UNIQUE at the BFI

On Friday 25th February, UNIQUE premiered at the British Film Institute. With two successful shows, the innovative piece sold out headset and tablet interactions. With mesmorising visuals, the five audience types were pulled into the mind of Tupac Martir and his novel based on visual identity and words.

The five audience types based on Performative-R and how they work:

Headset Interactor – 10 participants wearing VR headsets become part of the on-stage performance, experiencing the piece within their headset. Through real-time motion capture and haptic interactions with the dancers, they will be fully integrated into the story.

Tablet Interactor – 20 seated members along the front row have tablet devices responding in real-time to the stage performance. Revealing new elements in the set design and performance of the dancers, musicians and VR interactors.

General Audience – As the largest group, these members are seated behind the AR audience, filling out the theatre space. This group observe the entire performance and all the present realities as they interplay and enhance one another.

Global Audience – As per the ‘Tablet Interactors’ above, we are able to stream content to devices around the world, allowing individuals the freedom to move within their environment. This is done with live triggers from the operators inside the venue.

Using AR cameras, UNIQUE can be streamed with the additional layered content to various social media/video platforms.
