PROJECT: THOMAS TAIT AW15, LONDON FASHION WEEK

ROLE: Lighting & Visual Design

Thomas Tait wanted to create a show that would direct the audience’s full attention to the clothes by reducing any distractions in the staging and lighting.

A catwalk was built in the underground car park at Westminster University, an anonymous location that reinforced Tait’s minimalist concept. Given the client remit and restricted production budget, Satore was tasked with developing a show that would use only lighting to transform a public space for an exclusive fashion event.

Tait described his aesthetic as ‘sci-fi spaghetti western’, which saw models sporting oversized cowboy shirts and angular collared dresses. The spectacular, high-concept fashion design was brought to the fore by lighting that was subtle to the point of minimal.

This was a hotly-anticipated show and famous faces in the audience included Kanye West and Zaha Hadid – the pressure was on to deliver an impactful and memorable experience.

The show has since been remembered as one of the highlights of London Fashion Week 2015. It was praised for its audaciously stripped back approach by the industry publications that attended. TPi praised the ongoing collaboration between Tait and Satore as having delivered “some of the world’s most interesting conceptual catwalk creations.”
