PROJECT: THE WONDER WALK, THE MOTHER OF THE NATION

ROLE: Sculpture, Lighting & Technology

Abu Dhabi’s Tourism and Culture Authority wanted to celebrate the values Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi (‘Mother of the Nation’ and widow of the UAE founder) embodied, by holding an inaugural cultural event. The result was ‘the ‘Wonder Walk’: a tree-lined walkway along the Corniche, an eight-kilometer beachfront area that connects different parts of the festival and a vibrant hub for street musicians and live artists.

Satore Studio was responsible for making this engaging – and truly magical – for guests, particularly after the sunset. The festival proved hugely successful and attracted 133,000 visitors over the course of its 10-day duration. The tourism department decided to make it an annual fixture.

Nearly 200,000 people attended the second MOTN festival, a significant increase in 2016’s figures. The ‘Wonder Walk’ was not only the most-visited and most-Instagrammed area but Satore’s light installations were singled out as highlights of the event by outlets including Time Out Abu Dhabi and What’s On.
