ROLE: Lighting, Video Design & Technology
Camp Nou, the home stadium of FC Barcelona, is one of the most recognisable – and iconic – sporting venues in the world. The club decided to give it an extensive renovation to celebrate its fiftieth birthday, and to ensure Camp Nou would remain fit for purpose well into the future.
Satore worked with architectural firm Populous, in collaboration with Werner Sobek, MiAS Architects and RCR Arquitectes, who approached Satore Studio to design the lighting for their bid. Satore’s remit covered both the facade and interior of the stadium. Satore’s lighting design would complement a wider architectural vision that would reflect the significance of Camp Nou on Catalan culture and, more directly, on the stadium’s immediate surroundings.
The competition was held between Autumn 2015 to Spring 2016, The team’s proposal was one of the final four shortlisted. Although the bid was not ultimately selected as the winning entry, it marked the start of a longer-term business relationship between Satore and Populous.
