John Rowe joins Satore Studio as ‘head of r&d’.

We are delighted to announce that John Rowe will be joining Satore Studio in September as Head of R&D. John will help lead the division to develop new, bespoke technologies, Virtual Production workflows and pipelines for filming on upcoming creative projects, as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.

John has over 35 years’ experience in the creative industries. He worked at the National Film and Television School for more than 15 years and during that time led their work in Visual Effects and Colour Grading/Finishing taking it from the fringes of the School and developing it into a core part of the storytelling process. From 2005 to now the DPP, SFX/VFX and Digital FX courses that John designed and delivered continue to have an enviable employment record, with 97% of their graduates currently working in film, TV, advertising, creative arts and software development – predominantly at major VFX companies in Soho, London.Since 2003, John and the DFX students have successfully created VFX for and delivered hundreds of festival and award-winning NFTS productions (including BAFTAs and Oscars).

Prior to working at the NFTS, John had over 20 years’ experience in film and television production, post production and education. His experience ranges from editing and designing motion graphics to creating VFX, and from film & video production and post production management to software development, alongside training vfx software applications to post-producers worldwide. He has worked with a huge range of broadcasters (inc BBC, Sky, ITV, Channel 4, MTV), major film & tv post facilities and film & tv vfx software & hardware manufacturers, both as a digital artist and as an educator.
